The Empire State
New York City's vast urban atmosphere draws a sharp contrast with the remainder of New York State, an area dominated by farms, forests, rivers, mountains and lakes. One of the largest parks in the United States, New York's Adirondack Park covers six million acres. A variety of New York State treasures include national parks sites, heritage areas and historic sites, with an additional 180 state parks.
Of course New York City is one of the most famous metro areas in the world, often called The City That Never Sleeps. Made up of five boroughs, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island, it's easy to imagine how the city spills way beyond its borders. The Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge and Times Square are among the most famous icons of the Big Apple, entertaining visitors for a hundred years.
