The Buckeye State
Beautiful Ohio, more than just a state song, it conveys the state's beauty and scenic wonder found on display in 73 state parks, 89 state nature preserves, 800 miles of scenic rivers, more than 1000 miles of hiking trails, 26 state scenic byways and a national park. With the world's largest population of hard working Amish, countryside farms only add to the state's beauty. It's also a lighthouse-lover's paradise, with 22 beacons guarding the 312 mile Lake Erie coastline.
Ohio, land of 141 covered bridges, is also home to the longest and shortest covered bridge in the United States. From a cultural standpoint, nearly 300 art, history, science and zoological museums dot the state, beckoning visitors to learn more about antique cars, ceramics, trolleys and merry-go-rounds, as well as famous native sons and daughters, like Annie Oakley, Hopalong Cassidy, Zane Grey and eight U.S. Presidents. Two more popular stops include the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame and the National Football League Hall of Fame. - Ohio intro by Monnie Ryan
