Scenic USA - Ohio Lanterman's Covered Bridge |

Adding an authentic look to the Lanterman's Mill site, a relatively new covered bridge crosses Mill Creek providing access
to the mill just as it had a hundred years ago. This attractive 96 foot span was added to Ohio's Mill Creek MetroParks, near Youngstown, in 1989. Located upstream of the old mill, the bridge is another one of the cherished landmarks of the 2600 acre park. It seems a covered bridge possesses a special power that draws visitors in, requiring a closer look which includes a walk on the old planks from one end to the other. Construction of the bridge was made possible by donations from the Land and Water Conservation Fund through The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Beecher Foundations, the Youngstown Foundation and the Crandall Memorial Foundation.
Among the 15 miles of park hiking trails, the nearby East and West Gorge Trails offer a dramatic two-mile loop along Mill Creek. The east walk consists of a boardwalk and is bordered by the stream. The west trail follows a massive wall of sandstone offering a look at the park's geological past.
