New Hampshire's Scenic Route 302 only gets better when autumn arrives. During the first few weeks of October, fall's magical transition of hardwoods turn mountainsides into a blazing riot of color. As the peak color progresses southward from the Canadian border, tourists try and take in as much of this wonderful transformation as possible. And nowhere is more famous for autumn's brilliant foliage than New Hampshire's White Mountains.
Here, the beautiful Silver Cascade in Crawford Notch is one of those White Mountains gems that's located right along the roadside. This innocent looking white ribbon has managed to slice through the tough granite, making its own notch that funnels icy waters under the roadway. This is a sightseer's paradise and Silver Cascade is just one of many natural wonders found in the White Mountains area.
Here in the Granite State a natural mix of water and mountain slopes have created over a hundred waterfalls sites. A White Mountains attractions list has identified 25 must see waterfalls, offering directions and trail information in the guide. Ranging from easy walks and strenuous hikes, a White Mountain vacation has all the possibilities of creating some pleasant life-long memories.
