Here in New Hampshire's White Mountains, residents come from miles around to Jackson Village for the Honeymoon Bridge - Jackson Village, New Hampshire annual covered bridge dance. This old fashion evening of fun starts at 6 pm and centers around the famous Honeymoon Covered Bridge. Featuring live music, dancing, food and a great time, these Granite State residents are already looking forward to this summertime gathering.
Here in one of New England's most famous vacation destinations, the White Mountains provide plenty of sightseeing opportunities. A land of waterfalls, fast flowing streams and miles of backwoods hiking trails, the covered bridge in Jackson adds another colorful sight in these beautiful mountains.
Capturing the eye of many photographers, the Jackson covered bridge stretches 120 feet across the Ellis River, one of a half dozen picturesque White Mountain streams. Featuring a Paddleford truss, bridge builder Charles A. Broughton and son followed Peter Paddleford's bridge design in 1876. Not seen in many covered bridges, the adjoining sidewalk was added in 1930. This New Hampshire bridge is one of 26 White Mountain area covered bridges, and one of nearly five dozen bridges found throughout the state.
