Kent Falls

Kent Falls State Park

U.S. Route 7, an extra special scenic byway, parallels a section of Connecticut's Appalachian Trail, the Housatonic River and western border with New York. Kent Falls State Park picnic area is found along this picturesque highway, just north of Kent in the Litchfield Hills.
The park's Kent Falls is a series of cascading waterfalls and is sometimes touted as the state's highest. Kent Falls Brook drops over 250 feet in a quarter mile stretch, cascading over white marble ledges. The lower falls, shown here, is easily viewed from the street level picnic area. The upper falls, a series of plunges, horsetails and a punchbowl, require a short climb up a foot trail alongside the waterfalls.
