Devils Den Cliffs Nestled in the Lee Creek Valley among the picturesque Ozark Mountains, Devil's Den State Park is a wonderful place to get acquainted with the great outdoors. Miles of well blazed trails lead to deep crevices, mysterious caves, and imposing rocky bluffs. A few of the park's trails head out of the park into the ever enchanting Ozark National Forest and Boston Mountains.
First laid out by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, Devil's Den stands as a tribute to FDR'S "Tree Army". Cited as one of the CCC's best examples of rustic architecture, the park now bears the National Historic District designation.
For the equestrian, additional trails are set up, ranging from the easy Old Road Trail to the Devils Den Cave exceptional Vista Point Trail for the experienced rider. Two miles of trails begin at the park's horse camp, where riders and horses may spend the night. Mountain bikers may use these trails too, but must yield to horses.
The 2500 acre Devil's Den Park also provides picnicking areas, a swimming pool, full service cabins and both modern and primitive campgrounds. White-nose syndrome, thought to be responsible for killing millions of hibernating bats, has continued to keep the Devil's Den (inset), Farmer's Cave, Big Ear Cave and Ice Box caves closed. With so many places to explore, don't let cave closures stop you from experiencing this marvelous park.
