Known for its spectacular waterfalls, magnificent Columbia River Gorge scenery and its historic architectural landmarks, Oregon's Columbia River Scenic Byway leads to the state's number one natural attraction. Multnomah Falls, dropping 630 feet in a breathtaking cascade, attracts well over two million visitors a year. Here along the byway, the falls and Multnomah Lodge have been entertaining guests since 1925.
Following a Cascadian design of stone and timber, the Multnomah Falls Lodge features the plans of architect Albert E. Doyle. The lodge was constructed as a day lodge, offering a casual atmosphere for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Continuing 85 years of service, the lodge also houses a gift shop, snack bar, and interpretive center. Guests may enjoy the lodge's famous Sunday brunch, a fireside dinner or dramatic views of the falls from the atrium style Falls Room.
From the lodge area, a hiking path leads up to an overlook, taking about a mile climb to the top of the falls. Not up to a steep hike? The Benson Bridge crosses at the top of the lower falls, offering an unforgettable close-up view of the magnificent waterfall above. As you might have guessed, it would be easy to work up an appetite for the lodge's northwest style cuisine. In this autumn view, a faint wisp of smoke wafts up from the chimney. It looks like a great day to relax and replay your latest memories around the fireplace.
**FYI** - Timed Corridor Access Permits are required
from late May to early September, and from 9 am to 6 pm.
