Known as the Ski Capital of the East, Stowe Village, Vermont, is located in the Green Mountains with ski facilites on Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak. Mount Mansfield is Vermont's highest mountain with a summit that reaches 4,395 feet.
Although Stowe is a famous ski town, autumn is the most popular time of year, with visitors flooding the area to enjoy the season's vibrant colors. Continually nominated as one of the top places to view vivid autumn foliage, Stowe's mountainsides are covered in glowing reds, golds and oranges. Peak times range from the last week of September into the first two weeks of October.
Pictured here is an iconic hilltop view of Stowe Village and the Stowe Community Church steeple, rising up from 137 Main Street. Dating back to 1863, the non-denominational church continues to welcomed everyone to this quaint village. Here, scenic Route-100, the Green Mountain Scenic Byway, passes through the center of town. Quite fitting for this charming New England town.
