Scenic USA - Connecticut Kent Falls |

U.S. Route 7, an extra special New England scenic byway, parallels Connecticut's section of the Appalachian Trail, the Housatonic River and the state's western border with New York. One of the byway's many highlights, Kent Falls State Park is found along this picturesque highway just north of Kent in the Litchfield Hills.
Greeted by a small covered bridge at the park, waterfall fans quickly discover it's not a far walk to the falls. The Kent Falls Covered Bridge, built in 1974, allows foot traffic to cross Kent Falls Brook. Inparting its name to the park, Kent Falls is a series of cascades and is listed among Connecticut's highest waterfalls. Falls Brook drops over 250 feet in a quarter mile stretch, cascading over a series of rock ledges. The lower falls, shown here, is easily viewed from the upper picnic area. Seeing the upper falls requires a short climb over a foot trail alongside the falls.
