The high point in Arizona, Humphreys Peak, tops out at 12,643 feet elevation. The San Francisco Peaks dominate Flagstaff's backyard, with a 19,000 acre Kachina Peaks Wilderness only minutes away. This part of the San Francisco Mountain Range creates a lovely hike. One of the easiest summits to hike, the ten mile round-trip gains nearly 3500 feet in elevation and will take the best part of a day. Once at the top, views of Arizona pop out between the passing clouds. It's the Grand Canyon to the distant north, Red Rock Country to the south in Sedona, and the City of Flagstaff at your feet. Great views, a well marked trail and good company can make a wonderful and fulfilling day.
