Scenic USA - Tennessee Arch Lake |

Tennessee’s Pickett State Rustic Park, often called the Pickett CCC Memorial Park, salutes a 1934’s group of young men who developed this section of the Pickett State Forest. Already a natural wonderland of rock shelters, natural bridges, wild mountain streams and meadows full of wildflowers, the Civilian Conservation Corps spent eight years establishing 50 miles of trails, a ranger station, lodge, and five rustic cabins that are still in use today. Built of native limestone, these popular historic lodgings led to the park's placement on the National Register of Historic Places.
Appropriately named for a rock bridge that spans the lake, this view of Arch Lake has got to be one of the most scenic sights in the park. Eleven blazed trails are woven into the rugged terrain, leading to other rock arches, the Indian Rock House, scenic bluffs and Thompson Creek. The Lake View Trail, blazed in green, takes in the north shore of Arch Lake. This view is seen from the Lake Bluff Trail, a short trail (blazed in red) that follows the eastern shore. All you’ll need here is a fishing pole and license, as boats and canoes are available for rent at the park.
