Appearing to land dead center in the state of Washington, the town of Wenatchee was once known for its title, the Apple Capital of the World. Along with fruit stands, apple orchards and vineyards, this scenic valley appeals to both the sightseer and outdoor enthusiast. Considered the sunny side of the Cascade Mountain Range, outdoor recreation venues enjoy 300 plus days of sunshine. Sports minded individuals will find exhilarating winter activities in downhill skiing, ice climbing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. Summertime fun comes in the form of boating and fishing, plus hiking and biking.
Just to the northwest of town, following the Wenatchee River, water enthusiasts will enjoy the glacier-fed Lake Wenatchee. Tucked into the foothills of the Cascades, Lake Wenatchee is a short drive from Washinton's U.S. Route 2, and an easy drive from the I-5 Corridor in the west. The Lake Wenatchee area features camping areas, a state park, natural wildlife areas, and plenty of boating and fishing opportunities. Covering nearly 2500 acres, the Lake Wenatchee is part of the foothills playground, a place for relaxation, enjoying nature, and fun filled days on the water.
