Wyoming’s Grand Teton Mountains, always a splendid part of a visit here in the national park, Jenny Lake - Grand Tetons National Park, Wyoming were created by an unusual happenstance of nature. Located on the Teton fault line, the row of majestic peaks continued to rise for centuries, while the broad valley of Jackson Hole sank. Without any intermediate foothills, the Teton Range is still one of the most impressive mountain ranges in America.
Carved by recent glaciation, the beautiful blue Jenny Lake was created when Cascade Canyon was blocked with glacial till. One of a half dozen lakes fed by the Snake River, Jenny Lake is often thought of as the most picturesque. A shuttle boat ferries sightseers across the lake to the ever popular Inspiration Point, the Hanging Canyon and Hidden Falls. A trail surrounds the lake and connects with Cascade Canyon, String Lake, and Leigh Lake. One of the premier loop trails, for the experienced hikers, takes in Paintbrush Canyon, Lake Solitude and Cascade Canyon.
Jenny Lake Lodge, a balance of rustic Jenny Lake Boathouse - Grand Tetons National Park, Wyoming elegance and modern conveniences, has entertained Grand Teton National Park guests for nearly 100 years. This ideal location allows visitors to enjoy Grand Teton grandeur from a porch rocker. Lodge guests are also treated to well appointed rooms, complete with hand-made quilts and comforters. For those full of the camping spirit, Lake Jenny campground lies in the shadows of Teewinot Mountain with the Grand Tetons directly in the background.
This beautiful reflective view of Jenny Lake catches a glimpse of the Jenny Lake Boathouse. Built in 1932, the boathouse was used for winter boat storage by a concessionaire. Rental boats have been a part of summer fun on Jenny Lake since the early 1920s. This rustic building, placed on the National Register of Historic Places, blends in well with summer's wooded shoreline.
