Scenic USA - Nebraska Cunningham Lake |

Located within an earshot of Omaha's I-680, the Glenn Cunningham Recreation Area provides residents with a 1000 acre city park to escape summer's hot asphalt, concrete and glass of the metro area. Named for former mayor and U.S. Congressman Glenn C. Cunningham, the parkland surrounds a 390 acre lake. Part of a flood-control project, designers hoped to avoid numerous floods in Omaha which killed seven people.
So easily drawn to water, this popular park offers no-wake boating, fishing, and water sports. For land-lubbers the park also allows biking, hiking, horseback riding, picnicking and wildlife viewing. The campground, serving RVs and tent campers, has received excellent reviews. With warm days and cool nights, Cunningham Lake is a great place to enjoy summer sunsets with family and friends.
