The Beaver State

Along with a message of welcome, Oregon's governor offers an overview of the state's leading points of interest. Residents are proud of their landscape, clean rivers, beautiful mountains and pristine beaches. Activities may vary from wine tasting in the Willamette Valley to snow skiing at one of 14 resorts. There's always a chance for fly fishing on a wild and scenic river or beach-going at one of the state's 64 coastal parks. Eco tours are offered statewide, taking in the coastal tidepools to backpacking in the Eagle Cap Wilderness.
Oregon has such a great geological diversity, punctuated by the great Cascade Mountain Range. The wild Columbia Gorge, the only break in the Cascades separates Oregon from Washington State. While being covered with forest, including giant redwoods and conifers, the state surprisingly contains a sagebrush desert. With 24 scenic byways and tour routes, there's something here for every visitor.
