Land of Enchantment

Archeological evidence places New Mexico’s first inhabitants back 10,000 years when Clovis-Paleo Indians called the Eastern Plaines their home. Puebloan Indian dwellings, dating back 800 years, and modern day Pueblo Villages and Tribes (22 in all) highlight New Mexico’s enduring cultural heritage.
Spanish influences are also seen throughout the state, and very evident in Albuquerque’s Old Town and Old West Country. The state’s scenic wonders, inspiring artist Georgia O’Keeffe, range from the arid plains to the rugged San Juan Mountains. Canyonlands, waterfalls, dinosaur museums, caves, ghost towns, Spanish Missions, volcanic remnants, and mysterious Puebloan ruins all help to make this a scenic Land of Enchantment.
