The Constitution State

Connecticut, one of five New England states, is a pleasant mix of historic cities and picturesque small towns. Moving northward, coastal towns, ports and harbors give way to scenic farms, winding country roads, dozens of waterfalls and covered bridges.
The scenic Connecticut River Valley, the Essex Steam Train, 10 state forests, and 63 state parks pose an interesting contrast to coastal beaches, a string of lighthouses and a collection of tall ships at Mystic.
When Dutch fur traders first discovered Connecticut in 1614, word quickly spread of colonization. Today, the state’s history is relived in countless museums, historic districts and national historic landmarks.
