Humphreys Peak

Humphreys Peak

The Wilderness Vagabond

The high point in Arizona, Humphreys Peak, tops out at 12,643 feet elevation. The San Francisco Peaks dominate Flagstaff's backyard, with Kachina Peaks Wilderness only minutes away. This part of the San Francisco Mountain Range makes a lovely hike. The ten mile roundtrip, nearly a 3,500 foot elevation change, will take the best part of a day. Once at the top, views of Arizona pop out between the passing clouds. It's the Grand Canyon to the north, Red Rock Country to the south at Sedona, and the City of Flagstaff at your feet. Great views, a well marked trail and good company can make a wonderful day.
