Starting as a dream in the early 60s, the late Earl H. Jamison envisioned a quaint colonial-style village, Peddler's Village Mill filled with shops, an old mill, an inn and anchored by restaurant which would feature Colonial-style cooking. Purchasing an old chicken farm in Lahaska between Routes 202 and 263, Jamison went on to see his dream fulfilled.
Although the locals referred to Jamison's Peddler's Village as Hentown, the charming village soon became a popular shopping destination.
Just recently celebrating its 50 year anniversary, the Bucks County attraction now features 70 specialty shops, six restaurants and the 70-room Golden Plough Inn. Its detailed shops, landscaped gardens and winding paths invite Peddler's Village Shopvisitors to stroll throughout the village, enjoying its festive atmosphere. In addition to the original Cock 'n Bull Restaurant, five additional pubs and eateries offer just about any type of American-style food imaginable. From January through March, the Cock 'n Bull offers authentic Colonial-style open-hearth cooking demonstrations, accompanied by live period music and plenty of hearty food. Located just 45 minutes from Philadelphia, Peddler's Village features 11 annual festivals and events, entertaining over a million and a half visitors every year.
