Tioga State Forest

Tioga State Forest

Pennsylvania supports one of the largest state park systems in the United States, providing over two million acres of state forest land and 117 parks. These great outdoor recreation sites provide the basics for all that's imaginable. So pack-up your mountain bike, camera, fishing pole or camping equipment and head-out to enjoy the outdoor lover's paradise.
This view offers a snippet of the Keystone State's Tioga State Forest, a sampler of fall's vivid foliage. This scene is found among the hardwood forest of Pine Creek Gorge and Leonard Harrison State Park, just outside of Wellsboro. Just across the Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon, cut by Pine Creek, is the neighboring Colton Point State Park and another opportunity for autumn's richly colored leaves, typically arriving during the first three weeks in October. The reds are a mixture of red maple, red oak, and black cherry. Yellow and orange leaves are displayed by the sugar maple, hickory, sycamore, birches, chestnut oak, and black walnut.
