Clearwater Mountain Sunset

Clearwater Mountain Sunset

The northern half of Idaho is squeezed into a panhandle shape by the neighboring states of Washington and Montana. The panhandle territory is covered in thousands of acres of national forest land, abundant wildlife and panoramic scenery in all directions.
This wonderful sunset view from Marks Butte looks out toward the Clearwater Mountains. Just to the east lies the small logging town of Clarkia (KLARK-ee), Idaho, so dependant on forest land and the timber industry. Westward is Idaho's Route 3 and the White Pine Scenic Byway. The highway weaves through Benewah County, the lower Coeur d'Alene River and the largest stand of white pines in America.
