Hills Covered Bridge

Hills Covered Bridge

The last stop on Ohio's Covered Bridge Scenic Byway is the Hills Covered Bridge (25-84-24). Just five miles from Marietta, watch out for the Hills Bridge Road (CR 333) to the east. The 1878 span was built by the Hocking Valley Bridge Works and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. For those interested in past history, the bridge has been referred to as the Hildreth and Lafaber's Mill bridge.
This well maintained covered bridge makes for a fitting conclusion to the byway, or perhaps a great beginning for those just starting out on the Wayne National Forest tour. If you're heading out from Marietta, this romantic byway twists its way through the Ohio River Valley, and leads to four wishing bridges. It's been a tradition to sound the horn, hold your breath, and make a wish when passing through these national treasures.
