Waldport Beachside - Oregon

Oregonís coastline, a countless string of state parks and waysides, is a powerful tribute to the foresight of Governor Oswald West. The early 20th century governor was first to reclaim the beaches for public use and ensure a coastline of parkland. For Salem residents, Route 34 leads from the capital city and the I-5 corridor to Waldport. This scenic drive over the coastals has beachgoers headed to Cape Perpetua, Waldport and Newport. These slow paced coastal communities allow for a break that may include a round of golf, browsing through art galleries, or a little antiquing. For those unable sit still or relax, coastal streams and rivers provide the perfect opportunity for kayaking and fishing.
Waldport is best known for its crabbing and fishing. Runs of Dungeness crabs and Chinook salmon on Alsea Bay and river bring out boaters by the hundreds. Setting up camp at the Beachside Park means camping on the beach. Here Pacific views means youíre the last to enjoy a sunset on the Oregon coast.
