Glade Creek

Photos by Ben Prepelka

West Virginia's Babcock State Park is well known for its picturesque grist mill.Glade Creek Grist Mill The mill sometimes overshadows the remainder of the park's 4000 acres of rugged mountain beauty. Along with the usual amenities, including camping, hiking, swimming, volleyball and basketball courts, the park's Boley Lake offers summer fun on the water. Seasonal canoeing, fishing and paddle boats are some of the lakeside activities, while hiking trails are woven into the park's acreage. A walk along the Narrow Gauge Trail always entices youngsters to cross Glade Creek on a swinging bridge.
Manns Creek, Floyd Creek and Sugar Run all feed the scenic Glade Creek, creating many photo opportunities. Picture yourself enjoying the scenery during a summer day on horseback. The park offers horses for adults and and ponies for the youngsters. Park naturalists are also on hand for nature tours and interpretation programs.
